The taxi picked me up at the apartment around 11:25 and we headed to the airport. A short two-hour flight to Istanbul. Ataturk airport is enormous. Alas, I couldn't get the wi-fi to work there, but I managed to put together the commentary for "Walkabout 2," so the time was well spent.

I did my writing at this airport cafe. The cash register there was well executed for an international airport: the LCD panel that faced the customer showed the total in Turkish Lira, euros, dollars, pounds, yen and something Chinese (I think). They accepted payment in all. I actually saw the guy give change in dollars.

So my total transit time for this leg was 4.5 hours.
