Here's a close up of the islets that don't quite connect the island to the crater wall. I was thinking I could swim to the island from the rim, but the Cleetwood Cove Trail is the only path down the rim, and to make your way from there along the rim's often shear edges is simply not practical. Plus the lake is filled exclusively by snowmelt. Trying to swim there would be a recipe for hypothermia.
