Long walk, getting better
My terminally annoying left ankle has kept me hobbled this last month. Today it was feeling significantly better, so I decided to try a walk I've wanting to take to get me to
Alas, I made a mental miscalcuation and went on the wrong bridge, which meant I never got near where I was going. But my path could take me by a student's home, and I had business with her. Alas, she wasn't there. My foot kept feeling okay, and so I went further and further, and by five o'clock I had walked 6.9 miles according to the Google distance measuring tool. There's still some minor pain and aching, but now that I'm back home I see only minor swelling, certainly much less than previous days when I had walked much less. Here's a map of my path.
We'll see tomorrow if I judge well or poorly.
Note to self: if you ever come to Kazan in the summer, bring talcum powder. This humidity is for the birds, and talc would help prevent chafing on long walks.
October 2010: Taking that walk was a bad decision. It made the leg worse in the long run.
