Click 'read more' to see excessive details of the day's activities.
0000 - 0110 | Blogging, e-mail, FaceBook, prep for bed. Boil water for morning. Y'know, I've used the washing machine in this apartment twice now. The second time it seemed to wear my belt loops quite a bit. Was it the machine? Or were the pants already wearing? Hard to tell. |
0110 - 0630 | Sleep. |
0630 - 0800 | Morning routine. E-mail catch-up. Contemplate Kathleen's e-mail about split levels. Boil water for evening. |
0800 - 0900 | Pregrination to new classrooms on ul. Mezhlauka, right across from the Central Market. |
0900 - 1300 | Prepare photos and commentary from yesterdays photos. Inspect cost of printers on Bauman. Take a few photos. Return to main university building. Aargh. General exhaustion. Desperate need to nap. |
1300 - 1400 | Consult with Aygul about adjusting teaching schedule. Chat with students. |
1400 - 1500 | Peregrinate homeward, stop at too many banks so I can make rent/utilities payment. |
1500 - 1630 | Tutor Lena in English. Pay summer's rent. |
1630 - 2000 | Finalize Lake Kaban photo commentary and editing. Upload to web. Make компот out of cranberries. Pleasure reading. |

Dare I ask why you’re boiling water? Is quality an issue?
Don responds: Probably excessive caution on my part. We generically advice everyone to drink only boiled water or bottled water in Russia, not straight tap water. Actually even my landlord here told me not to drink the tap water here because it has chlorine in it: “Don’t poison yourself, Don,” were his words.
