The cholla (pronounced CHOY-uh) cactus grow large here, so I asked Gabe to stand in front of one to give you a feel for the size. As inhospitable as the plant looks, it actually hosts a bird's nest in the shadow up and to the left of Gabe's head. Gabe runs five miles a day, so he set a great pace for the hike.
